SALLIE MAE KELLY

March 4, 1932 ~ February 10, 2023

Sallie Mae Williams was born on March 4, 1932 in Molina/Cedartown, Florida to parents of Henry Ponder Williams and Isabel Alma Williams (Cherokee Indian of Oklahoma Tribe),Who preceded her in death.

Sallie Mae Kelly accepted Christ at a very young age baptized at New Hope Baptist Cedartown, Florida. She had 1 brother and 10 sisters who helped raise her with love all preceded her in death. She graduated from Central Florida High School and attended Pensacola Florida Cosmetology.

She loved gospel music and was a DJ at WBOP Radio Station in Pensacola, Florida. She met numerous gospel singers at Rex Music Theater: Sam Cooke-”Soul Stirrers; Shirley Caesar; Five Blind boys of Alabama and James Cleveland. Her favorite song was Oh! Mary don’t you weep and Old ship of Zion. She also presented the play of Ship of Zion @New St. Mark MBC and sang in the Choir.

Sallie Mae Kelly married the love of life James J. Kelly of Lynchburg, Va. (Retired Major U.S. Air Force and Tuskegee Airmen) in March ‘1956; who preceded her in death. She leaves behind three children: Eva (Johnson) Jones, Cheryl Kelly and Thomas Kelly(wife Beulla) along with several grandchildren and great-grand children and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
