Rosa Vannie Lee Wilson, née Clack, affectionately known as “Mama Rose,” was born on January 23, 1946, in Seguin, Texas, to the late Alonzo “Lonnie” Clack and Minnie Vannie Lee Sattiewhite. On October 26, 2026, at the age of 80, Rosa peacefully entered eternal rest.

Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Although she is no longer physically present, the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the beautiful memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.

EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION
Rosa was raised with values that shaped her into the loving, generous, and vibrant woman so many came to know and cherish. She attended Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles, California. Throughout her life, she demonstrated a strong work ethic, determination, and a genuine desire to help others.

CAREER AND COMMUNITY SERVICE
Rosa dedicated more than 20 years of service to the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) as a cafeteria worker. Through her work, she helped nourish and serve countless students before eventually retiring. Her dedication reflected her caring nature and the giving spirit she extended to everyone around her.

HER LIFE, PASSIONS, AND PERSONALITY
Rosa found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved cooking and baking, and the meals and treats she prepared were more than food—they were expressions of love that brought family and friends together.

She also enjoyed dancing, celebrating life, sharing laughter, and spending precious time with those she loved. Her lively personality and warm spirit made every gathering special. Whether through a home-cooked meal, a helping hand, a warm embrace, or a moment of laughter, Rosa had a special way of making others feel welcomed and loved. To those who knew her, she was more than a mother, grandmother, sister, or friend. She was a source of comfort, joy, wisdom, and unconditional love.

MARRIAGE AND FAMILY
Rosa was a devoted and loving wife and mother, a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, a beloved sister, and a dear friend.
Later in life, she found love, companionship again and married Woodrow Wilson with whom they shared a daughter, Carol J. Wilson. Their nine years of marriage marked another meaningful chapter in her life, filled with companionship, love, and treasured memories.
Rosa’s faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of East St. Matthews Baptist Church for three years, where she continued her spiritual journey and enjoyed fellowship with others.

Rosa was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Alonzo “Lonnie” Clack and Minnie Vannie Lee Sattiewhite; ten siblings; her former husband, Jett Johnson, Jr. (2004); her daughter, Ellen L. Lee; and her grandson, Adrian D. Washington.
Though they have gone before her, their memories remain forever woven into the story of her life.

Rosa leaves behind her devoted husband, Woodrow Wilson, and her loving children: Pastor TSgt (Retired) Willie D. Patterson Jr. (Janet) of Hesperia, California, Carol J. Wilson of Los Angeles, California, Annette L. Johnson of Victorville, California, and Michael C. Jackson, Sr. (Jackie) of Harbor City, California. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, who will continue to carry her love, values, and memories into future generations. Her beloved brother, Clifton C. Clack of Pomona, California, will forever cherish the memories and special bond they shared.
Among those especially dear to her heart was one of her favorite nieces, LaShaun A. Foster Jones of Pomona, California. She also leaves her honorary sisters: Mary Craig of Los Angeles, California and Alberta Taver of Compton, California. Additionally, she leaves a host of nieces, nephews, loving relatives, and dear friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.

Rosa Vannie Lee Wilson lived a life marked by love, generosity, family, and joy. She gave freely, loved deeply, and found happiness in bringing people together. Her legacy is not measured only by the years she lived, but by the countless lives she touched and the generations who will continue to carry her love forward. Her family will forever treasure her wisdom, generosity, laughter, and the countless memories made in her presence. Her kitchen was a place of love, her home a place of gathering, and her heart a place where everyone could feel welcomed.

Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to live on in every family gathering, every cherished recipe, every shared laugh, and every loving memory. To her family, she will always be Mama Rose. To those who knew her, she will forever be remembered for her giving heart, her lively spirit, and the love she so generously shared.

Rest peacefully, Mama Rose.
Your work here is done, but your love will never end. You have left behind a legacy that time cannot erase and a family that will forever hold you close in their hearts. Until we meet again, may you rest in God’s eternal peace. Forever Loved. Forever Remembered. Forever Our Mama Rose.
