Our beloved Rayford Anthony Smith entered eternal rest on August 16, 2026, at the age of 59.

Born on July 27, 1967, in Naples, Texas, Rayford was destined to be great. He was a strong, goal-oriented, and hardworking man who approached life with determination and passion. He was a true sports enthusiast and football athlete who played the position of running back. He also enjoyed playing chess and had a competitive spirit that reflected his sharp mind and unwavering focus.

Rayford dedicated many years to developing his strength and helping others reach their goals. He worked as a professional trainer and bodybuilder for 10 years, followed by 10 years as a construction contractor. Through every chapter of his career, he was known for his work ethic, perseverance, and commitment to doing his best.

A devoted football fan, Rayford proudly supported the New England Patriots, and his favorite player was Tom Brady. His love of sports was just one of the many things that brought him joy and gave him opportunities to connect with others.

Rayford’s presence touched many lives. He will be remembered for his strength, determination, hardworking spirit, and the lasting bonds he formed with family, friends, and those who shared his journey.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Banks.

Rayford leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving mother, Ima J. Banks; brothers, Curtis Smith and Reggie Banks; step-sister, Cassie Banks; step-brother, Lance Banks; his comrade and business partner, Humberto “Bear” Apolinar; nieces, Resjean Banks and Kaela Banks; nephew, Xavier Banks; and his cousins: Irish and Ron Benefield of Houston, Texas, as well as numerous other relatives, dear friends, and loved ones.

Though Rayford has departed this earthly life, the memories of his strength, determination, laughter, friendship, and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. His life was a testament to perseverance, and his legacy will continue through the people whose lives he touched.
