Randy “Poppa” Lanzelle Davies Jr., 36, entered eternal rest on September 30, 2026. Though his time on earth was far too short, Randy lived his life with a spirit that was full of love, creativity, and individuality. He will forever be remembered as a loving son, brother, grandson, uncle, friend, and a truly special young man whose presence touched the lives of many.

Randy was born on November 15, 1989, in San Antonio, Texas. From an early age, he possessed a remarkable artistic gift and a creative soul. He loved drawing and writing and was known for his beautiful penmanship. His talent was recognized during his high school years when he proudly won 1st place in a drawing competition. His favorite color was black, a simple detail that reflected his unique personality and personal style.

Randy was a proud graduate of Sam Houston High School, Class of 2008. While in high school, he was a member of R.O.T.C., where he developed discipline, dedication, and a sense of service. He also played the tuba, sharing his musical talents with those around him. After graduating high school, Randy answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy, continuing a path of service and commitment.

Above all, Randy was a loving person who cherished his family. He was an amazing brother to his siblings and brought his own special personality, humor, and love into their lives. He was also known for his love of dogs and the special bond he shared with his beloved pawbaby, Bleu Davies.

Randy was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Effie Rodgers; his high school sweetheart, Keirston, with whom he shared 15 years of love and memories; and his cherished pawbaby, Bleu Davies. We find comfort in knowing that Randy is now reunited with those he loved and lost before him, and that they have welcomed him home.

Randy leaves to cherish his beautiful memory his parents: Randy and Andrea Davies; his mother, Yvonne Freeman; and his siblings, Brandi Davies-Calhoun, Taneva Pitts, Shakerrah Southerland, Tiffany McKay, Brittany Pitts, Maryiah Miles, Randy Jakroi Davies, and Robert Charles Pitts.

He also leaves behind his grandparents, Margaret Davies, Larry and Sharon Davies, and Homer Rodgers; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and numerous other close relatives, cherished friends whose lives were made better simply because Randy was a part of them.

Randy’s life reminds us that a person does not have to live a long life to leave a lasting impression. His artwork, his writing, his service, his love for his family, and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.

Though our hearts are heavy with his absence, we celebrate the life he lived, the love he gave, and the memories he leaves behind.
