Peter James Wilson Sr. was born on May 22, 1927, in Mobile, Alabama. Peter was raised and educated within the Mobile School System, proudly graduating from Dunbar High School with the Class of 1945. Shortly following his graduation, Peter answered the call of duty and enlisted in the United States Army. After completing his military service, he chose to further his professional ambitions by studying business administration at Spaulding Business College.

Peter was nurtured in faith from an early age at St. Peter’s Baptist Church in Mobile. In June of 1967, his dedicated career in Civil Service transferred him from Brookley Air Force Base in Mobile to Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, where he continued employment until retirement. Peter found his spiritual home in Texas and became a devoted member of the West End Baptist Church family in September 1967.

In 1955, Peter united in Holy Matrimony with the absolute love of his life, Lillian Russell. Together, they built a beautiful life grounded in love and family.

Peter was preceded in heavenly rest by his beloved wife Lillian Wilson; his son Peter Wilson Jr.; his parents, Horace and Savannah Wilson; his brothers, Wilson Hall, Willie Wilson, and Henry Wilson; and his sisters, Cora Gates, Novella Wilson, Carlene Morris, and Naweta Fair.

  3. Uncle Peter, you taught me what tough love was all about. And oh how I thank you for it. You were and is a beacon in the Wilson family. You were the last of Momo and Papo’s children. I will love and remember you always. May you rest in peace 🙏🏽🙏🏽

  4. My uncle PJ 99 years old what a blessing, our family is so blessed to have your light guiding us for years, your smile and legacy, we love you and honor you today and everyday !

  5. PJ was and still is one of my favorite people. Our discussions and sometimes “arguments” could range from his beloved San Antonio and end up with me being schooled on the Interstate System. He’s one of the smartest and softhearted people around. If there was anything he could help you with, he was there. It was always hard for me to say this unless it was through Sheila but I love you and appreciate all that you did for me and mine. Job well done, life well lived and enjoy the peace you have earned.
