With love and gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the life of Nettie Lee Brown, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, and faithful servant of God, who entered eternal rest on June 25, 2026, at the age of 89.
Nettie was born on April 7, 1937, to the late Amos Cunningham and Nettie Celia Clay and was lovingly named after her mother. She possessed a heart of gold and was known as “Mother” to so many beyond her own family. She was the steady anchor of her family, always offering unconditional love, wisdom, and support.
As a devoted homemaker, Nettie dedicated her life to raising her children and creating a warm, loving home. She was a proud and supportive military wife, sharing 63 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Nelson Lee Brown Sr., who preceded her in death in 2016.
Nettie found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved shopping and completing puzzle books, which helped keep her mind remarkably sharp. Family and friends often marveled at her incredible ability to remember numbers. Above all, she was a woman of unwavering faith. A devoted Christian, she lived her life in service to Christ and faithfully worshipped as a member of Sanford Chapel and Macedonia Baptist Church for many years.
In addition to her husband, Nettie was preceded in death by her parents, Amos Cunningham and Nettie Celia Clay.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories of her loving children: Nancy L. Williams, Debra (Charles) Pleasant, Patricia (Theodore) Richardson, Nelson Lee Brown Jr. , Nettie Brown, Sharon (Vincent) Young. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her kindness, strength, and love.
Nettie’s legacy of faith, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her love and the memories she created will remain a lasting blessing for generations to come.
“Her children rise up and call her blessed.” — Proverbs 31:28
