Charles Bernard Walker Sr.

Charles Bernard Walker, Sr. was born on March 22, 1951, to Albert Bonner and Demeris Jefferson. On July 29, 2026, Charles peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family and community.

Charles answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Coast Guard in 1971. During his four years of honorable military service, he demonstrated exceptional dedication and professionalism, earning the rank of Boatswain’s Mate Third
Class before receiving an honorable discharge.

Following his military service, Charles attended St. Philip’s College, where he earned certifications in welding, equipping him with the skills that would lead to a successful and respected career. He first worked as a maintenance technician for the City before accepting a Civil Service position at Kelly Air Force Base. Throughout his years of service, Charles was recognized with numerous awards for his outstanding work ethic,
commitment, and dedication. His coworkers knew him as dependable, hardworking, and someone who took pride in every task entrusted to him.

Above all else, Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, provider, and protector. He worked tirelessly to ensure that his wife and sons never wanted anything, always placing their needs before his own. His generosity extended far beyond his immediate household. Whether family, friends, or neighbors needed a helping hand, Charles was always willing to show up with a smile, a solution, and a heart full of
compassion.

Charles found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was a passionate sports fan who faithfully cheered for the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs, while also enjoying the game of baseball. He loved spending time outdoors, especially tending to his yard, where he took great pride in mowing the lawn, trimming trees and hedges, and keeping everything in immaculate condition. His backyard was often filled with the
irresistible aroma of brisket and smoked sausage as he fired up the grill to prepare delicious meals for those he loved. Those gatherings created countless memories that his family and friends will cherish forever.

Charles was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Mary Washington, and his brothers, Harold Walker and James Walker.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted wife, Sylvia, his beloved sons, Kevin Woolfork, Charles Walker Jr & Joseph Walker, his grandchildren his sisters, Donella Edmondson and Goldie Washington; his brother, Wayne Walker; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were touched by his kindness, generosity, and steadfast love.

Charles Bernard Walker, Sr. will be remembered as a man of honor, integrity, and quiet strength—a faithful servant to his country, a dedicated employee, and a loving family man whose legacy of hard work, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to those he loved will continue to inspire generations to come. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him.
