Born in: Harligen, TX
Resided in: San Antonio, TX

Barbara Myrtle Robertson was born to Carlton and Rosanna Leaks on January 19, 1948, in Harlingen, Texas. On April 2, 2026, she peacefully transitioned, to eternal rest, to be with her beloved Savior.

Barbara accepted Christ at an early age and attended St. Paul Methodist Church in Harlingen, Texas.

Barbara received her high school diploma from Harlingen High School in 1966. In 1973, she received her bachelor’s degree from Pan American University, now known as the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. During her studies, she noticed that some students struggled to understand some of the learning material that was assigned to them. This observation led to her pursuing her Master’s in Education, which she received in 1977 from Texas A & I University, now known as Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

Barbara moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1978, where she married Thomas C. Robertson on August 19, 1978. From this blessed union, two children were born to them: a son, Thomas Jr., and a daughter, Roseanne. She joined her husband in attending St. Stephens Baptist Church under the pastor, Lewis C. Griffin, Sr. Later on, she joined Greater Tree Mount Temple Baptist Church under the pastor, Dr. Aristide Brown, Sr.

For anyone who knew her, she was a woman of deep faith and attentive action. Her career as a special education teacher was a point of pride for her. She spent her entire teaching career working to make sure that all her students received the highest amount of attention to, and support for their academic studies. She retired on June 7, 2012, after thirty-four years of teaching in the San Antonio Independent School District. For twenty-two of these years, she was a special education teacher at Frederick Douglass Elementary School.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Dorothy McCullough.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Sr., her children, Thomas Jr. and Roseanne, her cousins, Ethel (Woodrow) Davis, Doris Cole, Roosevelt (Beverly) Leaks, Jr., and in laws: Brother in law Clifford Robertson, wife Iva Rachell, Sister in law Lavern Gold, Brother in Law Anthony Robertson, wife Katherine, and a host of relatives, friends, neighbors, and students.

She will be deeply missed but forever, remembered, in our hearts.
