Born in: Atlanta, GA
Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

Reverend Daugherty, Sr., lived a long life. He is remembered as
a well-lived servant with many contributions and accomplishments. He had, like most of us, mountains to climb and plenty of “lessons learned.” He had to watch for hounds snipping at his heels, struggles, disappointments, and setbacks.
However, through it all, he learned that prayer without work is dead. He did his part, was a great servant, giving his all and leading by example, then he would “let go and let God.” He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years and 21 days.

After his military retirement, he attended College in St. Marcos and obtained his B.A. degree. Then he attended Perkins School of Theology.
Rev. Morris Daugherty Sr. began his ministry with the Southwest Texas Conference in 1966. He served many churches, including Seguin, San Antonio, Kerrville, and Austin, Texas. He retired in 2007. He was recalled and reassigned to other churches in Pflugerville, St. Marcos, and Austin for 14 more years. In addition to pastoring churches, he was instrumental in building 2 churches and a parsonage.

Rev. Daugherty was predeceased by his mother, Ruth Parks, his aunt, Elmore Gore, and his son, Morris Daugherty. He leaves his wife, Alberta L. Daugherty, daughters, Robeion Daugherty, and Regina Daugherty Chavis, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, cousins and other family relatives, Roberta, Kenny, and Karen, as well as a host of other relatives, caregivers, members, neighbors and friends.
