Sammie Lee Johnson Jr. (Bobby) was Born on June 5, 1951, in Colquitt, GA to the parents of Clara B. and Sammie Johnson. He attended Carter Paramore High School where he left and joined the United States Army. He served for 22 years and honorably retired at Fort Sam Army Base in San Antonio, TX.
The 6th of 14 children, Sammie was always highly intelligent with a very mechanical mind. He loved his family dearly But, at a very young age was eager to experience the world. He was afforded that opportunity through his service in the military. He was very proud of his service and never left home without his baseball cap with all his medals on it.
He became a member of Kirby Baptist where he rededicated his soul to God. He was brought up in the church but had a newfound spirituality with God which he shared with his family, neighbors and friends. He was a blessing to all he met in some way. He enjoyed doing community volunteer work, such as the Boys and Girls Club. He used his retirement to help anyone in need. He never let being in a wheelchair keep him from enjoying life. He always had a positive and cheerful manner, even on his most painful days. He never complained. We will always cherish the memory of his cheerful and positive manner.
