HEZELENE MARIE BROWN

February 11, 1934 ~ July 28, 2021

Hezelene Marie Brown was born to the union of Hezekiah and Grace Victoria Wilson in Guadalupe County, Seguin, Texas on February 11, 1934. She was the oldest child of three siblings. They provided high morals, strength and spiritual guidance for their children.

Hezelene and Herbert were joined in holy matrimony in 1951 as husband and wife.To this union, God blessed them with four children Jewel, Herbert Jr., Darlene and La Paula. 

Hezelene accepted Christ into her life at an early age. She became a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Rufus Wilson. 

In 1952, Rev. John Joseph Rector Sr. became the Pastor at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she served humbly and diligently. She devoted her life to God and Kingdom building. She took her work very seriously and served participating in Sunday School, a member of the Antioch Mass Choir and a member of the Deacon Wives Auxiliary. In 1993, Hezelene was under the direction of Pastor Dr. E. Thurman Walker. After his passing to glory, she served faithful under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Kenneth R. Kemp. 

Hezelene attended public school and graduated from St. Philip’s College in San Antonio, Texas, where she earned her Associates Degree in education. She began her professional work experience with Parent Child Incorporation as a devoted social worker until she retired.

On July 28, 2021, Hezelene Marie Brown answered the Master’s call, “Come Home” and was welcomed with opened arms at the gates of heaven by her parents, Hezekiah and Grace Victoria Wilson, and her sister, Nathene Clestine Brown.

Hezelene leaves fond and cherished memories to a devoted husband; Herbert Brown Sr. four children; Jewel Brown, Herbert Jr. (Melissa, Wife) Brown, Darlene (Minister Ernest, Husband) Brown II and La Paula (Michael, Husband) Brown-Hinton, brother; Paul (Carolyn, Wife) Wilson. Sisters-in-law; Frances Moten and Drosie Brown. She was the proud grandmother to; Brittaney Andres, Whitney Brown, Ernest Brown III, Dexter (Eliana, Wife) Brown, Tiffany Miles, De’Ante Bellard and Kobe Brown. A loving Great grandmother to; Tierra Andre’, Joseph Andre’, Grace Brown and Emery Brown. She was prominent in the lives of her nieces, nephews and cousins. A special love to her Pastor, 1st Lady, and church family.
