WILLIAM F. GARNER, SR.

August 28, 1934 ~ March 1, 2021

William F. Garner, Sr. 83, known as Mr. G, of San Antonio Texas passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021. He was born in Hartselle, Alabama to Laura Orilla Johnson Orr and Willie Estre Garner on August 28th, 1937.

His first marriage to Geraldine Luckey in 1960 produced three children. With his second marriage to Addie Ford in 1984, he became a stepfather to three children.

William served 20 years in the United States Air Force. (1958 – 1978).

Ever the avid cooks, in 1990, William and Addie Garner opened a restaurant on San Antonio's East side. The name of the business became reflective of their own names Mr. & Mrs. G’s Home cooking and Pastries. Their business boomed for years and received recognition from USA Today, Business Journal and several local newspapers like the San Antonio Express News. They were also highlighted multiple times in segments of their local television news.

Mr. G was also a pastor and a proud member of the Rotary Club of San Antonio. William is preceded in death by his wife, Addie Garner.

He is survived by his 3 children, Deborah Thomas (Michael) of San Antonio, TX, William F. Garner Jr (Jackie) of Springtown, TX and Vicky Adams (Willie) of San Antonio, Texas and his 3 stepsons Darryl, Lateese, and Kenyon Ford. He has several grandchildren, Vicky Thomas, Michael Thomas, Zameika Williams, Iyaesha Simmons, Tyreese Simmons, Yvonne Slider, Crystal Maldonado, William F. Garner III, Francis Garner, Dimitria, Darryl II, Tabyana and Malik Ford. He has a host of great grandchildren Dechele Toney, Aaliyah McGee, Aisha White, Jer-Mykal Thomas, Cyvon and Cyvanna Slider, Destiny Garner, Leila Monsivais, Frances Shigg, His great great grandchildren are Liana and Lilly Toney. Mr. G is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends!

  4. My prayers to the family. Mr. And Mr. G always treated me , my daughters and grandchildren. Like family. It was always a nice visit when we went into the resturant. We feel very Blessed to know them both. May the Lord continue to Bless the family.
