Wady Carl Williams was the fourth child born to Shirley and Vinnie Mae Williams on December 25, 1944, in Garwood, Texas.
Wady graduated from E.H. Henry High School in Eagle Lake, Texas in 1963 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering, in 1970 from Prairie View A&M University, a public historically black land-grant university in Prairie View, Texas.
Following graduation, Wady was hired as an Engineer with the DOT/Federal Highway Administration. He built a career at FHWA lasting almost 30 years, during which time he held the positions of Highway Engineer and Legislative Coordinator. While in the training program in Washington, DC, Wady met Veronica (Roni); they soon became a couple.
Wady and Roni married on August 17, 1974, at Saint George’s Episcopal Church in Washington, DC when he was 29 and she was 25 years old. From this union, they became the proud parents of two sons, Brian Cornell and Derek Cameron, and one grandson, Cameron. For most of their marriage, they lived in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Columbia, Maryland. In 2012, Wady and Roni relocated to San Antonio, Texas.
Wady was quite the car enthusiast. Everyone knows how he loved his Porsche. If you ever rode with him, it was a memorable experience! He was an avid golfer. In retirement, he enjoyed tending his lawn, reading the paper and car magazines, watching westerns, and connecting with friends. He loved going to Prairie View Football games especially homecoming with fellow alumni/co-workers and his childhood friend; all of whom can attest to the experience of riding with Wady.
Wady was a loving husband and father. Left to cherish his memory are Roni, his wife of 49 years, children, Brian and Derek, grandchild Cameron, one brother, Charles Augusta (Belinda) and one sister Billie Ruth. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, extended family, and friends.
Wady is preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Vinnie Mae, his sisters, Doris Jean and Mary Ann, and brothers, Shirley, Jr. and Joe Douglas.
