Virginia Mae Jones

Virginia M. Jones was born on November 2, 1936, in Chester, TX, to the late Rev. Richard and Mattie Jones. She accepted Christ at an early age. She attended and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Conroe, TX.

In March 1957, she married Rufus D. Jones. To this union five children were born.

She worked in healthcare for over 25 years and retired in 2001.

She was a faithful member of Bethany First Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess, sung in the choir, and served in other ministries until her health declined.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus D. Jones, her parents, Richard and Mattie Jones, four sisters: Dorothy Jones, Madelyn “Nell” Jack, Alma Collins, and Dora Jefferson.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one son Michael B. Jones (Renee) of Pflugerville, TX; four daughters: Ruth D. Thompson (Willie) of San Antonio, TX, Valerie L. Rogers (Jimmy) of Pflugerville, TX, Rhonda M. Jurrells of Converse, TX, and Sandra F. Busby of Jacksonville, FL; one sister Jewelline Welch (Arnold) of Melbourne, FL; three brothers: Richard Jones of Birmingham, AL, James Jones (Carolyn) of Converse, TX, and Marx Jones (El Dora) of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren: Chaz Jones, Corey Rogers (Lily), Caleb Jones, Brandon Jones, Briana Busby, Camille Busby, and Lesli Jurrells; five great grandchildren: Caleb King, Damien Jones, Chaz Jones, Jr., Kiley Rogers, and JJ Booker; one great great granddaughter Neveah King, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
