Vickie Renea Eddington was born Sept 20,1955, to Vernal and Geneva Eddington in San Antonio, Texas. She was the baby girl of three children. She attended Booker T Washington Elementary, Emerson Junior High, and went on to Highlands High School, graduating in 1973. She started her undergrad studies at Prairie View University and attended till 1975. She had a brief career with Southwestern Bell, then decided to enter the Army in 1986. She served in Germany and Italy then was honorably discharged 1990. She was working as a travel agent and raising her beloved son when she decided to finish her education. She enrolled in San Antonio College and finished at Wayland Baptist with a Bachelor of Business Administration- Human Resources.
Vickie was raised in the church and gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was baptized at Emmanuel Baptist, by Rev. H.R. James. Vickie was a faithful member of Emmanuel active in the choir, bible study, and a religiously attended VBS.
Vickie was devoted to her family. She was raised in a close-knit family that spoke daily, had regular Sunday dinners, and spent major holidays together. Her family played various games which have been passed down through the generations. Vickie was affectionally known in her family for having the “wrong last word.” She will be missed by all but most especially her bid whist partner Trell. Vickie loved to travel, and the casino was her second home. She found enjoyment in meeting and talking to people “Visiting Vickie” never met a stranger, once she made your acquaintance, she made you a friend.
Vickie departed this earth on the 12th, of July 2023. To join her parents Vernal and Geneva Eddington, grandparents Matt and Anna Scurry. John Eddington, Frankie and Ural Green Sr., and a host of Uncles, Aunts, and cousins. Vickie was a dedicated solider, most truly an “Army of One”, a Christian woman who managed daily pains for over 25 years. What a blessed and glorious day, for she is finally resting in the hands of our Lord free from all pain and worries of this world.
Vickie has left behind her son beloved Shane Michael Tanner, her “heartbeat” grandson Sean Michael Tanner, her sisters Carolyn Laverne Tappin, (Lutrell) and Marilyn F. Jackson. Her niece Kia Janea Williams (Martin), and nephews Brannon R. Tappin, and Corey Jackson. Her Uncle Ural Green (Lilian) a dear friend Rick, and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends

Vickie and I went to high school together. She was one of my funniest friends. Once we decided that it was too hot to walk from a store we were coming from. Vickie gets the bright idea to start hitchhiking. I was scared at first. But, Vickie had a way of making things seem like an exciting adventure. We were soon picked up by a nurse. This nurse was actually a blessing. She scolded us and lectured us on the dangers of hitchhiking. The funny thing was that we were actually a half a mile away from Vickie’s house. We never did that again!
Through the years we went our separate ways. But, we all think we have time to reconnect.
I was shocked when I heard of her “home going “. She was a bright light in a dark world. Next time we meet we’ll never have to say goodbye!!
Condolences to the family. God Bless.

I was sadden to hear of Vickie “Sugar†Eddington’s passing. I just spoke with her I believe in June. She ask if she could call me later and never did. She had a keen sense of humor and always kept you laughing. She’s the only that could wear a onesie leopard suit and get away with it. She was my friend and church member. She knew how to praise the Lord! She was a member of our LMA “stress relief posseâ€. To her son and family: may the Holy Spirit comfort you all during your time of sorrow. Sugar, you are now free from pain and can now rest easy with the Lord. Love you Gurl and will see you at the meeting. You will be missed! 💚ðŸ™ðŸ½ðŸŒº

My condolences to Vickie’s Family. Vickie and I were stationed at Camp Darby, Italy together. She was joy to be around. Praying that the Lord sends His Angels to Comfort and Strengthen you all during this difficult time. Vickie has transitioned from Labor to Reward, may she Rest in Peace.
Sending prayers and condolences to Vickie’s family. Vickie was my roommate at Camp Darby, Italy. We kept in touch all these years. We were planning to attend a reunion together in September. I miss our long talks and her always trying to give me orders. We would just laugh it off then I would change the subject. We loved talking about fashion and travel. I miss her. Rest in heaven my friend. Battle Buddies Forever. Love you!
