Vanessa Kay Speed

November 14, 1954 ~ April 17, 2018

Vanessa Kay Speed was born November 14, 1954 in El Campo, Texas to the union of Raymond Anderson and El Norma Fay Long; she was the youngest of two children. 

Vanessa accepted Christ at a very early age under the leadership of Bishop R. A. Wauls at True Holiness Pentecostal Church in Wharton County. She later became a member of Family Praise Center under the leadership of Bishop Rick Hawkins in San Antonio TX.

Vanessa received her formal education in the Edna ISD, later graduating from El Campo High School Class of 1973. She attended Wharton Jr. College in Wharton, TX. She moved to Houston TX where she worked for American General Insurance Co, there she met the love of her life George W. Speed, who preceded her in death. They married in Las Vegas, moved to San Antonio, TX, where she was successfully employed by Caremark Rx until her illness. 

Vanessa leaves to cherish her memory her Mother, Mrs. El Norma Fay Kirkendall, her brother, Kenneth Ray Anderson (Gloria), two nephews: Jermel (Jajuana) and Kelly(Fayedra)Anderson; one niece, Kendra Anderson; three great nephews: Christian, Josiah, Kelly Jr. Anderson; two great nieces: Aaliyah and Kimbre Anderson, all of San Antonio, Texas, who fondly called her "Aunt Kay Kay". Godson, Desmond Vaness Bellard of Houston, TX, and goddaughter, Tiffany N. Pierce of Houston, TX. One brother-in-law, Thurman(Mattie) Deloney of Greensboro, NC; one sister-n-law Donna (Marvin) Gowdy of Oklahoma City, OK and a host of relatives and friends.
