TIA LATRELLE JONES

November 16, 1988 ~ March 2, 2022

Tia Latrell Jones, beloved daughter of Derrick and Senita Jones began her journey to heaven on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the age of 33 after a courageous battle with Breast Cancer.

Tia was born on November 16, 1988. From the moment she was born, her inner joy and beauty always seemed to shine. Tia accepted Christ into her life at an early age while attending Macedonia Baptist Church with her parents. Growing up, Tia was an amazing scholar and a tenacious athlete. She excelled in every sport that she competed in, but competitive cheerleading really captured her heart. After hundreds of practices, competitions and many first place medals she decided to end her competitive cheer leading career and focus on her education. Tia graduated from Texas State University in 2012 and received a Bachelor of Arts in Sports and Exercise Science. Tia then decided to further her education and in 2017 she received her Master’s in Public Health with a specialization in Epidemiology from Texas A&M University in College Station.

Tia’s first job after college was for the Waco Health Department as an Epidemiologist. After several years in Waco, Texas, Tia decided to move to the East Coast and accepted a position at the Baltimore Maryland Health Department as a Senior Epidemiologist. Tia worked for the Baltimore Maryland Health Department for approximately two years and then went on to start her career as a Senior Management Consultant at Accenture.

Tia was kind, gentle, generous and always helping those in need. She brought food to her friends and family when they were sick, left small gifts for people on their doorsteps when they were having a bad day, and she always made it a point to celebrate her friends & families personal victories as if they were her own. Tia also loved to travel and see the world, she never turned down an opportunity for a road trip.

Tia was a wonderful daughter, aunt, sister and friend. She had a zest for life that no one could measure, her vivacious and giving spirit will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her Grandfather, John Jones, her Aunt, Sabrina Jones, and her Uncle, Roger Stripling.

Tia is survived by her Parents, Derrick and Senita Jones, her Brother, Kory, Sister-in-Law, LaToya and Niece Kailynn Canada. Grandmothers: Beatrice Jones, Inez Harris, and Delores Stripling. Grandfather: Verlon Stripling; Aunts: Tecora Jones, Mellisa (Lisa) Rhodes, Tameka Stripling, Queenie Goode, Wynelle Rueben and Andrea Thomas; Uncles: Jessie Stripling, Akeem Herbert (Lisa) and many other Aunts, Uncles and Cousins from the Jones, Stripling, Harris, Jackson and Thomas families.

  5. Tia was my person. The one that you can talk to about everything and anything. We would send each other gifs of Grey’s Anatomy when either of us was struggling that day. I had the joy and privilege of beginning my journey with Accenture alongside her. Without her, I would not have survived my first project. She was always willing to listen and provide an uplifting word. We would speak about everything under the sun, to include her adoration for her niece. I had the privilege to call her a dear friend for what feels like a lifetime but was just a short period of time. She is missed and will always be remembered. Rest peace dear friend.
