STEPHEN KEITH HOWARD

May 19, 1964 ~ August 5, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Stephen Keith Howard 60, who left us on Aug 5, 2024. Steve was the 2nd of four children born to James R. Howard Jr. and Carolyn E. Harris Howard on May 19, 1964 in Washington, D.C. As a child of a military member, he lived in Dayton OH, Pordenone Italy, and San Antonio Tx. He attended Beverly Gardens elementary school, Adams Hill elementary, Pease Middle school, and graduated from Oliver Wendell Holmes High school in 1982. He attended San Antonio College for two years before joining the US Air Force as a fireman in 1984.

He was known and loved for his sense of humor, quick wit, and endearing smile. He was blessed with the ability to charm and talk to anyone but he had no filter. He still garnered and maintained friendships with many people.

After his time in the USAF, Steve worked several jobs, but most recently at Drury Inn in Hospitality Maintenance and for Allcat Claims Service processing insurance claims for USAA customers.

He was a lifelong sports fan and endlessly committed and faithful to our hometown Washington Redskins/Football Team/Commanders.

He is survived by his sons: Keith (Keyeria), and Kameron; daughter Kennedy; grandchildren: K'Aaliyah and K'Amari; brothers Wayne (Sharron), David (Dianne), and Chris (Elizabeth); sisters: Beverly and Felicia Capers (Lorenzo); nephews: Damian (Tina), Michael Bender (Venessa), and Nicholas; nieces: Tiana, Jacqui, Talia Barba (Angel), and Lauren; along with several aunts and cousins.

Guestbook

  1. Trying to find the colors to match the Commanders colors. How I miss you talking about your team. Thank you for being a friend and not just a coworker. For the laughs, and the debates.

  2. My condolences to the family. Stephen and I never met in person but I felt as if I had known him all my life, and he was my FB buddy. There was never a dull moment and he always made me laugh with his crazy posts. I’m just heartbroken that he never shared what was really going on in his life and I’m even more saddened that the posts that matter most never populated until it was too late. Rest In Paradise Stephen, until we meet again.

  3. This hit hard, bro! We are all still in shock. We’ll miss you, but never forget you. Love you.

  4. Stephen, Bae (our own private joke lol)… I miss our calls, video chats, conversations. I thank you for showing me what a good man could be and that I deserve better. You were a Gem. You were a wonderful man, a beautiful, humble human being. I love you Stephen Howard, happy that I got to say that to you. Keep ’em laughing and smiling up there. You will always be remembered. To David and the rest of the Fam, love from Lynette from Trinidad and Tobago. 🤗🤗🤗

  5. We never met in person, but Stephen was a homie! Always with something silly that was sure to really make you laugh. I only wish he shared his pain like he shared his jokes.
Stephen, you’ll be sorely missed but never forgotten.
    With Love, Tasha

  6. Although Stephen and I never met in person, we messaged one another often. To me, he was a special kind of person. We both found one another inside of a group on Social media. He was a joy to talk to, and he was very smart. My heart twitched when I heard the news about his absence in our lives. Stephen will be missed. To God be the Glory, for Stephen. What a beautiful Soul he was.

  7. My condolences to the Howard family as Stephen was a great person and I know his presence will be missed. He continuously kept everyone laughing daily. He was so outgoing and his personality shined just as bright as his smile. He will be greatly missed❤️

  8. My dear friend. We never met in person, but you would’ve never known that. We spoke often on the phone. He always had a kind word for me. Always made me smile, laugh out loud! You will be missed definitely. Rest Easy in Heaven, My Friend. Love Jennifer

  9. Stephen, bro, I never met you in person, but you were that jovial bro on social media, always gave us a laugh to cheer us up. I will miss your forever comments, jokes and suggestions. RIP bro!

  10. Stephen it still seems unreal that you’re no longer here but your jokes and silliness is what I’ll miss the most about you. Although we haven’t met in person it still feels like I’ve known you for a lifetime and that’s something I’ll always cherish… SIP my friend

  11. On behalf of Elder Fletcher & Sister Beverly Davis, we offer our prayers and condolences to the family of Evangelist Beverly Howard. We pray that God strengthens, comforts, and uplifts the Howard family amid your grief!

  12. Stephen and I played on a couple of basketball teams at Lackland AFB while in middle school. Our moms worked together as well. We had lots of respect for the Howards, they lived a good clean life. Stephen was funny, fair and a good team mate under Coach Dave. We got to travel a bit with that team, and he and I would sit together on the bus, by the Terrell twins….and it was Comedy Central!!! We would see each other at an HEB or over at the mall and always talk and laugh. Sorry for his loss, he was agreat friend abd good soul.
