SSGT (Retired) Wayne Tipton was born September 8, 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri and is the second child and only son born to the late Florence Tipton. He left this world for glory on January 30, 2021.

At an early age he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Reverend E.F. Williams. He was an active member of the choir and the youth Usher board. Although the church community was small, it became the central focus of Wayne’s life. Wayne excelled in school and was President of his senior class and graduated valedictorian of Central High School class of 1977. He was awarded a full journalism scholarship at the University of Dayton in Ohio. It was there that he decided to serve his country and enlist in the United States Army.

Before going off to college, Wayne met the love of his life Monica Moore. The two married on December 23, 1980. She was supportive of his Army career and the pair traveled the world together while fulfilling his duties for the U.S. Army. He was married to Monica Tipton for 44 years. From this union two children were born, Wayne Anthony and Krystal Dara.

Loved by all that knew him, Wayne was especially known for his quiet demeanor and his love of God. He was a teacher and mentor of many. Wayne was always encouraging everyone to keep education first! After retiring the Army with honors, Wayne found a passion as a Human Resource recruiter at Michener & Gaines. He found joy in assisting people looking for employment and helping them in any way possible.

Wayne was proceeded in death by his mother Florence Tipton. Wayne leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 44 years Monica, their children; Wayne and Krystal Dara. Sister, Brenda Tipton. Guestbook

  1. Our most sincere condolences for your lost. Wayne will be always in our memories for being a great neighbor and a kind man.

  2. As I watched your Homegoing service today, I was reminded of the uniquely special person God made you when your children and grandson gave loving tributes in your honor.  Tears flowed as I listened to their words about your faith, genuineness, the love you gave and how you cared for your family, your humbleness, gentle spirit, and much more.  I knew you as that person and was blessed to have you as a colleague and friend. I felt honored that you trusted me enough to meet your wife Monica, who became a beautiful close friend, and your children.  You kept me laughing at work, where situations weren’t the best, and talked to me about Jesus because you knew I needed to hear it.  In fact one thing that I always carried with me from those talks in the early 1990s was you telling me “it’s a sin to worry.”  It wasn’t until 2005, when I became Saved that I understood the full context of that statement, but you were absolutely right.  Thank you Tip for the great man and friend you are, for that smile that lights up a room, and for being a true man of God.  Now that you’ve gone home to be with the Lord, I imagine all of Heaven welcomed you with fanfare, for you are indeed God’s faithful servant.  Your presence will be missed here, but we’ll meet again.⛪️🙏
