SHERRY M BLAKE

January 14, 1961 ~ June 14, 2023

Sherry Blake of Schertz, TX was granted her Angel wings on June 14, 2023. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Sherry had touched in some way throughout her full and memorable life.

Sherry was born on January 14,1961, in Rock Hill, S.C. Where she graduated from Northwestern High School. She married her high school sweetheart Jasper Blake and from their union came three beautiful children. A loving military wife who accompanied her husband as he served in the U.S. Air Force around the world for more than 26 years.  They settled in San Antonio, TX in 1993, moved to Schertz, TX in 1996, where she lived for over 27 years.

Sherry was an Equal Opportunity Director for Army South and spent over 35 years of Civil Service in support of the United States Government, where she impacted thousands of lives.

Sherry loved life and blessed so many people along her journey, but her greatest relationship was with God. She was a part of the Greeter’s Ministry at Resurrection Baptist Church, where she obtained her associate degree in theological studies. She knew where her help came from, and she knew where she was going when God called her home.

Sherry leaves to cherish her memories her Husband of more than 40 years Mr. Jasper Blake Sr. Her Children T’Wanna Moore (Derrick), of Schertz, TX, Tiffany Blake of Converse, TX, and Jasper Blake Jr. (Christina) of St. Hedwig, TX. As well as 6 grandchildren De’Aveyon Moore, Tre’Von Moore, TayShaun Moore, Xavier Blake, London Blake, and Kyrie Blake; and great-granddaughter Desiree Wesley. Sisters Jackie McCollough, Michelle Patton, and Delores Patton; Brothers Andre McCollough, and Tyrone Patton all of Rock Hill, S.C.; Special Sisters Lori Lewis, Lisa Flagg, and Melinda Ruiz.  Along with a host of Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her greatly.

  2. Still can’t believe I’m typing on Sherry’s obituary page…Sherry was a good friend to Lori and I since 1986 when we were stationed in Germany. When I began going bald, she lovingly called me, “Brute Bernard”, a bald professional wrestler from the 1960s/’70s. “Oh, shut up, Brute!” was her go-to phrase for me! As we age, not all who cross your mind can put a smile on your face, but Sherry did for me. Prayers for Mookie, T’Wanna, Tiffany, Buddha and the extended family. God bless you Sherry and I’m glad to have known you. Spread Joy up there because you sure did that down here!

  16. Sherry’s selfless spirit, creativity in finding solutions, and faith-filled outlook on life were an inspirational beacon of service within our Blacks In Government community. Her passion infused us with a perseverance to carry forth the mission even in challenging times. She embodied the essence of thinking BIG and her memory will be etched indelibly in our hearts. Sherry’s legacy is one that furthers the chapters she so lovingly served, stirring within us a continued dedication to serve always and wholly.

  17. My condolences and prayers to the family and friends of Sherry. Sherry is a beautiful Angel, Servant, and Great Sister-Friend-Mentor-Inspiration. Her spirit was filled with light, and the love and the Glory of God rested within her as she spread love, kindness, and her angelic wings to give hope, encouragement, and healing to all she met and served. Words cannot express my sorrow and how much she will be missed. I spoke to Sherry often over the past 14 years. As I think about our last conversation a few days before the Memorial Day weekend, I visualize her smile, laughter, and I hear her saying “Sis, God is Good, Praise Him, Love You, and Talk to You Next Week, Be Safe and Enjoy the Holiday Weekend!” I did not hear from her after the holiday and I became concerned something was wrong. When I received the shocking news, I was speechless. God removed His Angel from this life, her work is done, and her impact lives on. Until we meet again, rest well my friend. Thank you for your positive impact in my life. You will always be my Angel. Love Always, Sharon.

  18. I am wishing you ALL, love, prayers, and God’s light during this time. Praying that you will find comfort in your memories of her and in knowledge that others are missing her too. Her memory will be eternally etched in our hearts.

  19. My deepest condolences and sympathy for the Blake family. Sherry was a special person she was always there when I needed an ear or shoulder to lean on while we worked for DeCA. She was certainly a shining light. Blessings

  20. SB!!!! I will love you forever!!!! It is so awesome how the Lord places people in our lives the exact moment they are needed. As a young 16/17yr old girl, green to the world, whose biological mother worked a lot just to provide for my sister and I, the Father placed you in our life to keep watch and help steward us in the way we should go(even unbeknownst to you). Thank you for opening your doors, your fridge and your heart to us without complaint. Thank you for letting Twanna drive the mega van so we can go hang out at the youth/teen center. Thank you for NOT letting Twanna take the van because only the Lord knew sometimes we was up to no good(Lol). Thank you for being a wonderful example of a virtuous woman and running your household well, you did that!!!! Rest well lady❤️

Family you all will be in my prayers 😘😘

  21. My SC sister Sherry was a great ray of sunshine everyday I saw her. She was the shoulder I could cry on and make me laugh when I was feeling down. I love you dearly and miss you terribly. My heart has an empty space because you are no longer with us. I know the angels are happy such a beautiful soul is joining them. My sincere condolences to Mr. Blake and family. God Bless you all.

  22. Sherry was a wonderful spirit whose light shined bright. She always greeted me with a warm smile and was someone I held in the highest of regards. My condolences to her entire family during this time of bereavement. May she rest in everlasting peace.
