Ryan Preston Grobes, aka Philly, 35, of San Antonio, TX passed away surrounded by loved ones on January 26, 2022. Ryan passed away from Diabetic Ketoacidosis brought on by undiagnosed diabetes. Ryan was born November 12, 1986, in Sharon Hill, PA. He was the son of Mischele Anderson (Michael Anderson) of San Antonio, TX and Preston Grobes of Newport News, VA.
Ryan lived in Germany for four years before settling in San Antonio. He graduated from Cole High School, Fort Sam Houston, TX. He attended St. Phillip's College, in San Antonio, TX where he received an Associate of Liberal Arts Degree. After graduation, Ryan initially held an array of employment positions ranging from food service to insurance sales. He later secured a role protecting members' accounts in the fraud detection department at the reputable financial services group, United States Automobile Association.
Ryan was an incredibly considerate, kind, supportive, and loving person. He thought so much of his family, especially his cousin, William; they had a special bond. Ryan loved to play with his pet dog, Abigail, and later, his parents' dog, Juice.
While Ryan never married, he lived a full and vibrant life with a countless number of friends. Ryan was a big sports fan. He loved his Philadelphia teams, the Eagles, and especially the 76ers. His passion for World Wrestling Entertainment, Ultimate Fighting Championship, and online gaming created a whole new community of friends. Although some never met him in person, they all considered him a loyal friend who was always there when they needed him. His community of friends in association with Tone City Championship Wrestling, will host The Ryan Grobes Memorial Battle Royale in his honor on April 20, 2022.
Ryan will be remembered as a devoted and loving son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and dedicated friend. Anyone who knew Ryan knew that he was a special soul. His family and friends will miss him more than words can express.
Ryan was predeceased by his grandfathers: Herman Puryear, Jr, Thomas C. McCall and Preston Grobes Sr. Ryan is survived by his mother: Mischele (Michael) Anderson; father: Preston Grobes; brother: Eric Grobes; stepsister: Monica Anderson; stepbrother: Michael Anderson II; three grandmothers: Marcia Puryear, Yvonne McCall, and Jean Grobes; two aunts: Antoinette (Andre) McCall-Reid, Shante (Cedric) Childs; four uncles: Damian (Brittney) McCall, Rodney Grobes, Mark Grobes and Tommy Overton; goddaughter: Khloe and a host of relatives and friends.
