Ruth Helen Netherly was born on July 28,1934 to Eddie and Catherine Bryant, in Taylor, Texas, she was the fourth child of seven children. Ruth attended Phyllis Wheatley High School in San Antonio, Texas graduating as Home Coming Queen in 1952. In 1954, she married the love of her life, Elroy Netherly and from this union they raise seven children.
At an early age Ruth accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and she was a lifelong member of New Light Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School, she was Choir Member and Women's Day Leader.
Ruth had a very wholesome heart for helping people. She demonstrated this by being a Home Health Care Worker, a Teacher's Aide at Highlands High School a Private Nurse's Aide, an Aide at the Texas State Hospital, and volunteer work for San Antonio Council Members. She was a Neighborhood Activist for getting street lights, sidewalks, speed bumps, and voter's registration. In addition she brought smiles to customer's faces at Department Stores.
Ruth had an entrepreneur spirit. She managed her own Flee Market, sold Mary Kay and Avon products, Tupperware, and Celebrity Jewelry.
Ruth was an avid reader and a devotee of further education. She honed her sewing skills by attending St. Phillips College.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother, her husband Elroy Netherly and her youngest daughter Felicia Netherly. Ruth leaves to cherish her loving memory sons William Bryant (Wanda), Fredericksburg, Virginia, David Netherly, San Antonio, Texas, Steven Netherly, Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Vincent Netherly, San Antonio, Texas, Daughters
Helen Elaine Netherly, Dallas, Texas and Dyane Netherly, Carrollton, Texas, sisters Willie Mae McVea, Maggie M. Hart, Erna Rose Shields, thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and other relatives and friend and Godson, James Shelton (Tracy), San Antonio, Texas
