On December 17, 1936, Nelli B. Williams and A.B. Clay Sr. welcomed their first child, Rosetta A. Clay, in Wharton County, Texas. Rosetta was the eldest of three siblings, with a younger brother, A.B. Clay Jr., and a younger sister, Tommie Lee. Following her childhood in Edna, Texas, where she received her education in public schools, Rosetta relocated to San Antonio. In San Antonio, she devoted her professional career to the healthcare sector, working with Personal Touch and Girling Healthcare for many years taking care of the sick and elderly population.
Throughout her life, Rosetta demonstrated a profound commitment to her Catholic faith/ community. On June 6, 1961, she married Jimmie Wilkins, thereby officially becoming Mrs. Wilkins in a ceremony that celebrated their union. Together, Rosetta and Jimmie Wilkins raised seven children: James Brown, the eldest; Melvin Clay, the second eldest; Larry Clay, the third-born; Diana Clay, the fourth child; Thomas Wilkins, the fifth child; David Wilkins, the sixth child; and Elmer Wilkins, their youngest. In addition to her role as a mother, she later became a grandmother and subsequently a great-grandmother of many.
Rosetta Wilkins was esteemed by many due to her remarkable strength, love, and nurturing qualities.
