ROBERTA BEDFORD

March 18, 1927 ~ October 29, 2022

Roberta was born to Rosa and Clyde Tones. She was raised by all her uncles who loved and cherished her dearly. Roberta grew up in Hallettsville, Texas, where she received her education at Steven Mayo School in Lavaca County, TX.  She later attended night school in San Antonio, Texas. After school, Roberta did a lot of Domestic work that reflected the hard work and dedication she put into her family. After that she worked in food service for Wilford Hall hospital for 20 years, where she later retired. Roberta had a passion for cooking for friends and family folks still say they love her fried chicken.

At an early age, Roberta Bedford accepted Christ at Richardson Chapel United Methodist Church in Hallettsville, Tx which continued by her joining Bethel United Methodist Church in San Antonio, TX.

She then got married to William Clayton Bedford in 1946 who preceded her in death, her daughter Wanda Lanell Bedford also preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories, son Obie Bedford (Ora), son, Alfred Bedford (Eva Gail), daughter Barbara Oliver, daughter Roslyn Tones, and son Wayne Bedford (Louise), her sister who preceded her in death is Margaret Nell Godley and Latrell Freelon (Eunice) , one grandson Shon Bedford. Her sister Mattie Marie Tones is also left to cherish. She leaves behind a host of grandkids, great grandkids, great great grandkids, nieces, nephews, and loved relatives and friends.

    She exemplified the epitome of the strong black woman.
