Robert Lee Williard

His Life’s Journey
Robert Lee Willard was born in Vernon, Texas on October 21, 1948 to Riley and Essie Willard, the baby and much loved child of a family of six children.
On November 9, 1967, Robert was united in holy matrimony with his high school sweetheart, Janis. The two of them were blessed with four children: Robert Jr., Anthony (Debra), Nancy and Sharon.
Their eldest child, Robert, preceded him in death.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army, was injured during the Viet Nam Conflict, and received a purple heart and silver star during this time. He was blessed to survive that period.
After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, Robert continued his education at Cook County College in Gainsville, Texas. He then moved to Waller, Texas for a few months before then moving to Brenham, Texas with his family where he commuted to Prairie View A&M. He received his Bachelor’s degree in education upon graduating from Prairie View A&M. The education journey continued as he moved his family to Austin, Texas where he attended graduate school at the University of Texas in Austin and in less than 2 years received his Master’s Degree in education in 1977 along with his teacher certification. Soon after, Robert moved his family to San Antonio, Texas where he enjoyed a long, fulfilling career as an educator in the San Antonio Independent School District at Woodlawn Hills Elementary. He retired from the public school system in San Antonio, Texas in 2001.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Janis, and his grandchildren: Avery, two sets of twins: Anthony and Joshua; Dominique and D’Angela; Isaac, Joseph, and Debra, each who resides in San Antonio. Kevin Pollard, Korrina Pollard, and great grandchild Kymberlee Suggs each resides in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
He also has a brother, Riley Willard (Juanita) and sister, Dr. Joyce Teal (Prince) both of Dallas, Texas; another sister, Maxine Cameron (Booker) of San Antonio as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives who also cherish his memory. We will miss Robert.
