RET. LT. COL. EDWARD ERNEST TRAVIS

January 23, 1934 ~ July 17, 2024

Ret. Lt. Col. Edward E Travis, age 90, peacefully passed away at his home on July 17, 2024. He was born January 23, 1934, in Scotts Bluff, NE to Manford and Lillie Travis. He grew up on a farm in Morrill, NE where he graduated from high school. He later graduated from the University of Nebraska then married Gloria White on July 31, 1955, in Scott’s Bluff and was married for 65 wonderful years prior to her death. 

Edward entered the Army in January 1958 and retired a Lieutenant Colonel in 1984. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, enjoyed woodwork, leather work, teaching, storytelling, listening to classic country music, western movies, watching the rodeo and absolutely loved spending time with family. He also was a loyal member of the Masonic Lodge for many years.

He is preceded in death by his wife Gloria Lee Travis, his only son Jeffrey Scott Travis and his only daughter Julie Ann Crocker. He is survived by his brother Gary Travis, granddaughter Jadyn Hill and fiancé Chance Farris, grandson Zane Travis and wife Lesley and great-grandchildren: Leila, Waylon, and LiliAnn. 

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to his providers Noemi Rodriguez, Angie Giberson, Alma Gill, and Jessica Cardenas who showed love and compassion to him In His last two years with us.  To the Gentiva Hospice team, Marquita Brown, Todd Guidry and Marissa Russell your empathy, love, compassion, care and support to family will never be forgotten. 

 

Graveside Services will be held at Fort Sam National Cemetery on August 8, 2024 at 11am at shelter 1.
