Praider Shelton Jr., a loving father, brother, and dear friend, was born on September 6, 1954 to Praider and Beulah Thompson-Shelton in Austin TX.
He was the third oldest of six siblings, affectionately known as “Bubba” by his family and friends. During his early childhood, he grew up in Bastrop, Texas and attended school in the Bastrop ISD.
Later he moved to Fort Worth, Texas to live with his father, and while there he continued his high school education at Polytechnic High school. He excelled as a gifted percussionist in the band. He was offered scholarship for his musical talent. Praider instead listed in the US. Air Force, where he proudly served, upon being discharged with honor. He then relocated to San Antonio, TX.
Praider worked at various jobs but had a passion for being a culinary cook. He was able to use his skill while working at Haven for Hope. He took great pride in preparing meals for the homeless and destitute. Praider, known as a sharp dresser, and someone who truly enjoyed life.
“So stated by his brother Michael, “Bubba never dies, he lives on in the rhythm. He played the meals he crafted and the memories we hold.”
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister: Marie Ann Smith. He leaves to cherish his memory: his children: Praider Shelton III, Joseph Christopher, and daughter Sarita, 14 grandchildren, his sisters: Deborah Brinkley-Bloedu, Louis Fay Thomas, Terrell, Brothers: Michael and Rory Shelton; his long-time companion, Johnita Bell, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Praider will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
