Born in: Mobile, Alabama
Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

Phullis Marie Brundidge Lott was born on August 15, 1948, in Mobile, Alabama, to Ethel

Mae Moore and Dorsey Brundidge.

Phyllis attended St.James Major Catholic School, in Prichard, Alabama and graduated from Blount High School. in Mobile Al, where she served as president of the choir. A role that displaved her natural leadership and the quiet confidence she carried throughout her life.

Following high school she moved to Montgomery, Al. to advance her education and employment. In short order she became a mother to Yvette and William Tutt. Following, the untimely passing of her mother. Phyllis stepped into the role of guardian for her younger brothers and sisters, an act of love and sacrifice.

As a young mother and guardian Phyllis continued to build a life grounded in hard work while embracing new beginnings upon relocating to San Antonio. Phyllis was a woman of many talents, following her passion for flowers she worked as an independent florist. She worked in several different occupations during her lifetime: Bank teller, substitute teacher at Sam Houston High School, bartender, and eventually joining Kelly Air Force Base as a civil servant. It was at Kelly where she met her husband, Lorenzo Lott.

After reestablishing her life in San Antonio, Phyllis became deeply active in both her community and her faith. She joined Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, where she proudly served in the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Peter Claver, the ushers ministry, Sister to Sister, Ladies of Soldality and Brothers Helping Brothers ministries. Through these groups, she found purpose, offering her time and talents wherever they were needed.

Phyllis played a meaningful role in bringing to life the Beautillion Ball- an event dedicated to helping young men raise funds to support their college and future aspirations. Helping uplift youth was one of the many quiet and powerful ways she made a lasting impact. She also dedicated her time and energy to political campaigns for the Honorable Ruth Jones McClendon and the Honorable Judge Carmen Kelsey.

In her later years, Phyllis continued caring for others through her work as a home caregiver alongside her sister, Edith Ray. When life called on her once again to take on the role as guardian, she didn’t hesitate; taking in three of her grandchildren in and raised them as her own, offering stern guidance, stability, and a love that was steady and unmistakable.

Phyllis wasn’t the overly affectionate type, but her love was always felt. She expressed it through her actions of giving, doing, and being firm when firmness was needed. Her strong, dependable, and deeply rooted presence in family will be profoundly missed.

Phyllis leaves behind a legacy of sacrifice, and unwavering devotion. Her life was a testament to what it means to show love not just in words, but in action. Though she is no longer with us, her influence lives on in the generations she nurtured, protected, and loved in her own unforgettable way.

Phyllis is proceeded in death by her parents, Ethel Mae Moore and Dorsey Brundidge, her son William Christopher Tutt, brothers Dorsey Brundidge Jr. and Louis Williams. Guestbook

  1. Phyllis was a wonderful and caring lady. I remember how she was a Girl Scout mom that went with the girls in all camping trips. When my daughter and Sydney decided to attend Texas Southern University, we all traveled together for Freshmen orientation. Then we were together at the TSU graduation for both of the young ladies. Phyllis was a great role model for young women. She was feisty, but got things done. Phyllis will be missed.
