PERVIS ELLISON

Pervis Ellison was born to the union of Willie B. and Essie Lee Huff Ellison on June 1,1929 in Tillmon, Texas. He was the oldest of nine children. His parents Willie B and Essie Lee; brothers, Freddie and Alvin Ellison, preceded him in death.

Pervis graduated from Carver High School in 1950. On August 5,1951, he married Mattie Everna Adair, and to this union six children were born. Mattie and one daughter, Gwendolyn, preceded him in death.

Pervis joined Mt. Zion First Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Claude W. Black, Jr. He served as supervisor of Mission 11; member of the courtesy committee; president of Mission 1; and supervisor of the church bus ministry for many years. Pervis was called to the Deacon Ministry, and was rightfully appointed by Rev. Claude Black.

Pervis served in the United States Army for four years. He also graduated from St. Philip's College with his Associate's degree in Automotive Mechanics. His thirst for knowledge was ever-present.

Pervis worked in the Field Engineering Department as a Supervisor at Lackland Air Force Base and retired after 37 years of faithful service.

Pervis continued his education in auto mechanics and was able to acquire his own business and provided affordable and dependable automotive and mechanic services to the community for over 50 years.

Pervis was a member of the St. Joseph Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and was a 32nd Degree Shriner.

Pervis's heart was always back home in Caldwell County, TX. He never forgot from where he came. He served as President of The Historic Fleming Memorial Cemetery committee, and worked with the Ebbon Cemetery committee. Always wanting to remember and honor his history. Pervis played a pivotal role in the historical marking process for Fleming Cemetery by the State of Texas.

Pervis found love again later in life in Idella Curtis, and was married October 10, 2019.

Pervis Ellison is survived by his wife, Idella Ellison; one daughter, Gloria Anderson; four sons, Pervis James, Michael (Paula), Stanley, and Keith (Katisha); twelve grandchildren; fifteen greatgrandchildren; three sisters, Lola Marie (Los Angeles, CA), Ella Ray Williams and Hazel Maxine Young (San Antonio, TX); three brothers, Ozell (Dallas, TX), Eddie (Chicago, IL), and Laverne (San Antonio); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving neighbors, and caring friends.
