PEARL SMITH HARTFIELD

December 25, 1932 ~ December 20, 2021

Pearl Smith Hartfield, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, friend, and a child of God was born December 25,1932 in Raleigh, North
Carolina to the late Simon and Mary Smith. Pearl was called home by her heavenly father on December 20,2021 5 days before her 89th birthday.

Pearl met and married Joseph Lamar Hartfield of the U.S. Army, from this marriage they were blessed with twelve children in this order: Joseph Lamar Hartfield Jr., James Hartfield, Brenda
Hartfield, Samuel Hartfield, Belinda Hartfield, Pearl Hartfield, Celestine Hartfield, Edward Hartfield, Lola Hartfield-Lewis, Mary Hartfield, Frank Hartfield, and Robert Hartfield.

Pearl traveled all over the world Internationally via the US Military with her family and was a devoted wife and mother. The family settled in San Antonio, Texas where she continued to raise
her family. She worked at the Argyle Country Club for 15 years until an injury required her to retire from "one" of her many jobs. Pearl also provided childcare services to several families
even when they could not afford her services. Taking care of children and ensuring they were safe and cared for was a true passion of hers. Pearl was the caretaker of her Intellectually
Delayed daughter Brenda and grandson, Maurice who was born with developmental delays. When her daughter Belinda was called home to the Lord, she was survived by her two children,
Yevonna “Nikcol” and Lebaron, Pearl took them in as their mother and provided them a home. She provided the best of care she could for over 40 plus years to anyone who was in need.
Pearl continued to care for everyone in her life until she was diagnosed with dementia and could no longer do so. Pearl could always be called upon to provide an amazing meal for the church, family gatherings, and especially on Christmas Day which was her birthday. She was a blessing to many people and will truly be missed.

Pearl leaves to cherish, her sister: Carolyn Smith, Brothers: Edward, Robert and James Smith, Daughter’s, Brenda, Lola and Mary, Son’s: Samuel, Edward, Frank, and Robert. As well as a
host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Simon Smith, siblings Simon Smith Jr., Lena Smith, Elizabeth Smith, SarahGray and MaryAnn Washington, Children, Joseph L. Hartfield, James Hartfield, Belinda Hartfield, Pearl Hartfield, Celestine Hartfield, grandson Monty Hartfield and great granddaughter, Daija Hartfield.
