Nettie Delores Jackson Bellinger was born May 2, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas to the late Louis and Narvell Jackson, a God-fearing couple who faithfully served the Lord. These Godly principles supported her into becoming the beautiful soul that everyone loved. Nettie accepted Christ as her personal Savior at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the founding pastor, the Reverend Rufus Wilson. She graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School in San Antonio in 1955 where she was a member of the Sewing Club and Home Economics in which she excelled. Nettie was known for her innovative and classy sense of fashion and style.
After graduation, Nettie was employed at the San Antonio renowned department store, Frost Bros. It is there she met a dapper gentleman by the name of Charles Bellinger, who would later become her husband. To this union three children were born: Latrice, Stefanie, and Charles. Nettie was adored by her children, and she lovingly devoted her life to her family.
She was blessed with multiple gifts and talents which included sewing, crocheting, ceramics, and was also a fantastic cook. She extended her exceptional parenting skills, wisdom, and guidance to not only her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, but also to countless others who affectionately referred to her as Mother Nettie. Her passion for teaching led her to pursue an Associate’s Degree in Child Development at St. Phillips College. For over 25 years, she was employed at Grace-Sea Shell Christian School. There, she served as Assistant Director for over ten years where she was pivotal in the development and success of children.
Later in life, Nettie joined New Creation Christian Fellowship as a founding member under the progressive leadership of Pastors David and Claudette Copeland. There, she continued her passion of service to the Lord. She faithfully served on the hospitality committee, as a choir member, Silver Sneakers Senior Ministry, greeter, and decorator. Nettie’s exquisite display of artistic designs could be seen throughout the church in the beautifully decorated Christmas trees and holiday decorations. Using her love for fashion, she served as an assistant for the Church Conference Fashion Shows as well as modeled in the events showing her poise and elegance.
On December 10, 2022, her Lord and Savior called her beautiful soul home. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Narvell Jackson, and her brother, Louis Jackson Jr. She leaves a loving legacy and cherished memories to her children, Latrice Mosby, Stefanie (Ronald) Jackson, Charles (Pamela) Bellinger, sister, Eleanor B.
