Q: How did you meet Milton?
A: I met Sgt. Whitehead at Shu Linkou AS, Taipei Taiwan in 1973-74. I was introduced to him by another homeboy my age on Charlie Flight early in our Air Force careers. My friend’s family, Jackson’s, knew Sgt. Whitehead’s family in Memphis as did my adopted Grandmother, Ruby Thorton Johnson, also from Drew, MS. Sgt. Whitehead was very approachable, and always had a kind word and good advice for us young bucks about conducting ourselves and preparing for our future. I relish having been associated with and advised by Sgt’s Whitehead, Gerald Richardson and Ernie Keith because it showed opportunity and leadership possibilities not easily seen in civilian jobs in Memphis at that time.
