LTC Lytle Louis Taylor was born in San Antonio, Texas, on April 29, 1928, to Doris Lytle Taylor and Jesse Taylor. He attended San Antonio schools, culminating in a graduation from Phillis Wheatley High School, where he lettered for two years in track and field and graduated with honors in 1946. He then began higher education as a student-athlete at Prairie View A&M University, lettering for three years in track and field.
Lytle had a love affair with learning, teaching, and demonstrating the power and delight of self-sufficient living for over 90 years. Lytle held Texas education professional certifications in Counseling, Administration, Principal, Superintendent, and classroom instruction at the High School & Elementary School levels.
He married Authur Marie Taylor of San Antonio, whom he met as an undergrad in 1951. They had two beautiful daughters due to marriage before divorcing in 1958.
LTC Lytel Louis Taylor also served his country proudly, on active duty from 1950 – 1952, followed by a long career in the reserves for over twenty years.
Bro. Lytle was a member of various organizations, such as the fraternity Phi Beta Sigma, and a 33rd-degree Mason at Blue Bonnett Lodge No.192 F & AM. He was recognized as a life member of the National Association of Colored People.
He leaves to cherish his memory: one daughter, Beth Lazelle Taylor; two grandsons, Jack Channing Morgan & Jarred Cole Morgan and his wife Whitney Morgan; two beloved cousins, Charlajean & Melvin Hutchens.
Lytle was preceded in death by his father, mother, and daughter, Stephanie Karen Morgan.
