Loretta Davies

February 17, 1949 ~ December 27, 2022

Loretta Jean Davies was born on February 17, 1949, to Paul Alex Davies and Dorothy M. Davies in San Antonio, Texas. Loretta was the first girl born in this union.

Loretta was raised with her three brothers and mother on the West Side of San Antonio. She like many others attended Grant Elementary school and Dunbar Junior High School. She elected to take on the challenge of Jefferson High School, where she maintained an A-plus grade average.

Later driven by a desire to become a nurse, she applied and attended the Baptist Hospital school of nursing in 1965. After completing the Licensed Vocational Nurse course and while working in the hospital system, her desires heighten to become a step higher in the profession.

Basically, single-handedly raises her son Gregory, tries to maintain a household, works long hours, supports her church, and helps with community work, her desire to continue a higher education took a back seat until she decided to move to Sacramento California.

While attending the Capital City Seventh Day Adventist in Sacramento, and working in local hospitals, she applied to universities there for a bachelor’s degree program with the goal of becoming a Registered Nurse.

Loretta then received a position offer to transfer to Los Angeles California. With what she believed was God’s plan, she applied for her Master’s Degree and received her Master of Arts degree in Mental Health. She attended the 54th Street church in Los Angeles for many years. She sang in the church and gospel choirs. Attended weekly bible study classes and outreach sessions provided by the local SDA Churches.

While in the state of California, before returning to the state of Texas she was a member of the California Board of Registered Nurses, the American Counseling Association, and the National Association for Female Executives. Loretta was later recognized by the Supervisor for the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors

She maintained her walk with God returning to her birth church of Ephesus SDA Church, San Antonio, Texas. Loretta sang with the Gospel Music Workshop of America and traveled to different states for years spreading the Gospel in song.

Loretta was a faithful, Christian solider who truly loved the Lord and look forward to the second coming of Christ and the first resurrection. Loretta is survived by her three brothers, Larry (Sharon), Charles (Marva/Tina), Tommie (Lucretia), and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
