LLOYD LEE FOSTER, SR.

July 3, 1930 ~ January 10, 2021

Lloyd Lee Foster Sr, peacefully passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021. He was born on July 3, 1930. He is the youngest of 8 children born to Charles Henry and Jesse Mae Dupree Foster in Austin, Texas. He joined Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church at an early age. When he moved to San Antonio, he became an active member of Tried Stone Baptist Church and remained a faithful Deacon for more than 55 years.

He graduated from the Original L. C. Anderson High School in Austin, Texas with the Class of 1948. While attending Huston-Tillotson College in Austin, Texas, He met Leatrice Laverne Norman, his one and only love of Sixty-Six years until she passed in 2016. Three sons were born to this union, Lloyd Jr., Lionel, and Lyle. He graduated from Huston-Tillotson with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology in 1951. He obtained his Master's Degree of Science in 1966 becoming the first African American male to achieve this accomplishment at The University of The Incarnate Word. He also attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Lloyd was employed by the United States Air Force as a Civilian Research Chemist for 39 years before retiring in January of 1991. After obtaining his Master's Degree, he was a professor in the Science Department at St. Philip’s College for 36 years. In 1994/95, he was inducted into Who’s Who among Black Americans. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles Henry and Jesse Mae Foster, His wife Leatrice Laverne Norman Foster, two sisters Lottie Renter and Lou Etta Houston; and four brothers, Charles Jessie Foster, Kelly Foster, Oliver T. Foster, and Fred Foster. He is survived by his sons: Lloyd Foster Jr., (Shirley), Lionel (Anita), and Lyle (Refugee); his brother Lawrence Foster; Sisters-in-law, Vernese Foster, Eva Mae Brewer, Eddie Mae Norman, and Jo Ann Norman, a very dear friend Muriel Jean McPherson, great-grandchildren, grandchildren, various nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

To the Foster Family:  My prayers are with you and your family.  Lyle let God be your guide.  Your Dad is a great man and lived a rich life.  You should be so proud of him.  He is at peace now and resting in the arms of the Lord.  God keep your hands  on the Foster Family and comfort them all.
