She was raised in Runge, Texas and later moved to San Antonio and continued her education. She was employed as a Cook at Gary Job Corps Center in San Marcos, Texas until retirement after 25 years of service.
At the age of 19, Lillian entered the sacred covenant of Holy Matrimony with the love of her life, Elbert Ross Washington, Jr. in April 1952. This is a remarkable accomplishment to marry at such an early age and stay in union for a lifetime, until death do us part. In this marriage, Lillian and Elbert were gifted and blessed to have six children. Lillian Hortence Perryman Washington enjoyed the art of cooking and feeding her family. She became well known for her special dishes of making the best beef enchiladas, holiday cornbread dressing, moist yellow cake with chocolate Icing, and mouth-watering peach cobbler, just to name a few recipes. She even taught her children the joy and talent of cooking for themselves, without having to depend on another. Not only was Lillian an outstanding woman, but the love of motherhood gave her opportunity to become the personal caregiver for one of the children impacted with a health challenge.
She realized the calling on her life and accepted faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She began her membership at Church of the Living God, Pillar Ground and Truth (Temple #1). Most of her work in the Ministry was accomplished at First Baptist Church in San Marcos, being active in the Auxiliary of Mission Board, Choir member, and Hospitality Department. Lillian Washington made her final membership at Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor C. Victor Herbin, Jr.
She entered her eternal journey on Thursday Evening, January 13, 2022 at the age of 88. Preceded in death is Elbert Ross Washington, Jr (Husband), Gilbert Ross Washington (Son), her two brothers Freddy and Curtis Perryman.
Lillian leaves behind a rich legacy of Christian love, which binds together those whose lives she touched.
