LAQISHA HAZEL BAILEY

May 25, 1981 ~ December 2, 2023

Laqisha Lashea Hazel, known as “Kisha” was born to Clarence and Althea Baines on May 25th, 1981.

Kisha attended schools in the SAISD. She graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1999. Kisha attended many certification programs and trainings to further her education. Kisha was known to do great hair, cook great food and lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. Giving back was Kisha’s true life calling.

Kisha accepted Christ at a young age at Hosack Ave. Baptist Church under Rev. Ernest Roberts. She had a passion for cooking which inspired her to start her own catering business, Marie’s Soul Food in honor of her mother. Kisha was also passionate about young children in which she assisted with the inception of Essence Prep. She aided with the groundwork of this institution. Kisha was very active in her community; she had a hand in starting the Annual Easter Bash with a group of ladies known as the “Ladies First”. She also assisted in the creation of the Annul MLK
basketball tournaments. Kisha took ownership of all of her friend’s kids and some of her cousins as well. She met the love of her life in high school, and they became one on February 15, 2020. They shared a love like no other.

Kisha is preceded in death by her mother, Althea Marie Baines, sister, Andrea Steen and her Grandparents.

To honor and cherish her memories, Kisha leaves behind her husband, Joe Bailey, dad, Clarence Baines, two sons; Marlon Springs and Clarence Springs, daughter Jalea Caldwell, sisters; Georgia Baines, Marquesha Freeman, Kristy Edison and Creshawna T. Parker, nieces; Mercedes Lewis, Irie and Destiny “Nankey”, her nephew, Gavin “Pumpkin” .Kisha leaves a great big family and a host of friends that will truly miss her kind, giving spirit and her beautiful soul.
