KAREN SERITA GILMORE

August 7, 1961 ~ December 3, 2021

Karen Serita Brown was born August 7, 1961, in San Antonio, Texas to SSGT. Lindsey Brown, Jr. and Dorothy Lee Hubbard.

She traveled the world as an Air Force “brat’ and attended various schools before graduating from Sam Houston high School. She attended St. Phillips College while working for the U.S. Postal Service.

She met and married Rodney Gilmore. She moved to Houston and started her family. She and Rodney became parents to two sons, Rodney, Jr. and Stephen. Karen was a homemaker and employee of target for many years.

She loved cooking, traveling, music and was a great singer.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lindsey and Dorothy brown, sister, Yolanda Hammond, brother Claude Hubbard Wright.

She leaves to mourn sons, Rodney Gilmore, Jr. and Stephen Gilmore; grandson, Colin Lynn Gilmore; niece, Claudette Wright; nephew, Matthew Hammond; uncle, Oscar Powell, Jr.; aunts: Melissa Poe and Deborah Powell and a host of relatives and friends.

  1. Sung with her under the late Wm (Bill) Blair Talent Showcase “It’s Show Time at The Carver Audituriom! Where we performed to help raise money to keep the Carver Open for other important needs in the community at large of the Arts! The Show was a Success!

  2. All l have is the great memories! I really do miss what we had! Watching American Idol or any singing competition on TV. Reminds me of what we had! The experience was an Honor. Thanks To The Late William Bill Blair for his dream; which came a reality here in San Antonio, on the East Side.
