JEANIE LONG

    Jeanie Marie Turner was born on 26 September 1959 in San Antonio Texas to Frankie and Alfonso Turner.  She graduated from Highlands High School and then went on to attain Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Texas State (Southwest Texas) and a Master’s degree from University of Texas San Antonio and earned a Bachelor of Nursing from UT Health Science Center.  She met her future husband, Charles A. Long, Jr., at a Commodores Concert and were married on June 29th 1991.

     Jeanie was an avid tennis player and was awarded a full tennis scholarship to Southwest Texas University.  She worked at Brook Army Medical Center (BAMC), Wilford Hall and was in charge of a million-dollar research project while at Southwest Research.  She’s known for being a great hostess, for her love of crossword puzzles, the Enquirer magazine, beating everyone in ping pong, and especially her famous chocolate chip pecan cookies.  

     She was proceeded in death by both her parents as well as her brother Tommy Turner.  Jeanie leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband of 40 years, Charles A. Long, Jr., daughter Rachel, stepdaughter Ebonye Long (Atlanta GA); stepsons Charles Dollard, Anthony Thomas, Charles Long Smith, all of San Antonio Texas; brother Robby Turner (Patricia), San Antonio; sister Monica White (Roy), San Antonio, Aunts Joyce Perkins and Dorothy Jean Kellum (Robert) San Antonio; mother-in-law Dessie Long; sisters-in-law Carlotta Long Steadman (Ramon); Carmelita Hubbard, Camelia Long; brother-in-law, Robert Long (Bell), all of San Antonio; several grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  She will be missed.
