I had the pleasure of having James Galimore as a student at Trinity University back in the 1970s. I remember him fondly as a mature, intelligent, articulate, and engaging student, who related well to younger students and was immensely helpful to me as a professor in my Religion in America Class. As a student, and later, as a graduate, James helped me set up class visits to Second Baptist Church. Moreover, in class he raised penetrating questions and comments and did so in an open-minded and receptive manner. I remember his smile and warm greeting. He was a most positive thinking individual I have ever met. I regret that we lost contact over the years, but when I saw his obituary this morning I had to sit down and write this. My deep sympathy to family members. You must be experience a sense of deep loss. If we had more people like James in the world, it would be a much better place.
Unfortunately, I have to undergo a hospital procedure on Tuesday that will make it impossible for me to attend the service. But I will be thinking of James before they put me under for the surgery. I am attaching a photo of James from the 1975 Trinity Mirage. That is the way I remember an respect him.Â
