James Edward Clifton was born to the late Furman & Patty Clifton on January 2, 1951 in Springfield, SC. James was the 9th born of 12 children: Edward Clifton, Gussie Jamison, Furman Clifton, Dottie Clifton, Wesley Clifton, Betty Smith, Joyce Clifton, Patty Clifton-Ackerman, Robbie Clifton, Herman Clifton, and Robert Clifton. He was affectionately known to family and friends as Chunk growing up in Arcadia, FL.
Cliff joined the United States Airforce in 1971. He proudly served his country and was stationed at Yokota AFB, Travis AFB, Charleston AFB, RAF Bentwaters, Clark Air AFB, and Retired in 1991 at Lackland AFB. One of his proudest accomplishments while serving was the promotion to Daddy when his children Constance Elnita & Kevin James were born.
After retirement, Cliff worked at Kelly AFB, Warner Robbins AFB and was known for being a smooth Car Salesman at Red McCombs. Everyone in the neighborhood knew that Cliff enjoyed walking (miles), biking, & gardening (He took his landscaping SERIOUS).
Cliff was absolutely crazy about his grandkids: Kevin Lenzy, Dylan James Clifton, Giana Laugier Monda, and Kelly Jean Clifton. Family meant everything to Cliff. He frequently visited his siblings in Florida and South Carolina and was always a phone call away to offer advice and support to all he knew and loved.
On Tuesday March 15, 2022 James Edward Clifton was called home to his Lord and Savior. James was preceded in death by his son Kevin James Clifton, Parents, and siblings Edward, Wesley, & Joyce Clifton. He leaves to cherish the memory of his life with his daughter Constance Monda (Nick), and loving Companion Shelease Williams. He prepared Constance for this day years ago, & left her the assignment to make sure the Family always remembers how important time together is. He will be dearly missed by all of his Siblings, Grandchildren, Friends, and a host of Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.

You talk about a motivator.. ha! Cliff would encourage you to get that daily walk in and keep your yard manicured. If you drive down the main road and dont see Cliff somethings wrong. He encourage us to get keep pursuing matters even when you get a NO. He had strong opinions about certain things especially dogs on his lawn. We will miss you Cliff. Rest in Paradise.
He was a great man and will be missed by all who loved him.
Life can be great, bad and sorrowful during a lifetime. James, I am very very sorry to have learned of your transitioning. During our much younger days, in our small neighborhood, we became neighbors. And, we grew up going to school together. You became a very respectful man wherever you visited. We would talk on the telephone, or Facebook at times, concerning our individual living. Just regular guy talk. So, its very unbelievable that you have left us on this side. To Patty, Robbie and the rest of the Family, we offer our most Sincere Condolences. May God offer you all the strength and guidance during your family time of grievance.
R. I. P. James ( homie ).
Gone too soon ..
Our neighbor and friend “Cliff” it is so hard to believe that you are gone, we are still in disbelief. You were just seen and spoken with the other day. We will miss you. You were a believer, therefore, you are simply resting until the Father awaken you. Rest in peace our dear friend.
For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
Some people mark us with their kindness, love and zest. James was someone who left a mark invisible to all but to the trained eye who can see a little piece of him in all of us.
Blessings from Essie McCullough and family.

I/we remember when we first meet James. I could tell that he had a great since of humor and loved being around people. We enjoyed his presence. Not even a month ago. I didnt know that would have been my last time seeing him alive. Shelease, him and I had lunch and we had a great time. It was nice knowing him. My beloved husband Bonnie Evans Jr. and my brother in law Bobby Briscoe, them three were like brothers. He will be truly missed. Only God can do the things He does for us All!!!

It is with great sadness to hear of James passing. We grew up in Arcadia Florida and shared many memories as youth growing up in St. John Baptist Church.
James and my brother, the Late Robert E. Lee Jr. were classmates of Desoto High School class of 1969 and both enlisted in the Air Force.
We will forever treasure the precious memories shared. My deepest condolences to his immediate family and our prayers of strength are offered to Patty, Bill, Herman, Robert and Robbie.
Rest In Peace.
