HENRY MORRIS DUNCAN

August 3, 1932 ~ January 15, 2023

Henry Morris Duncan was born August 3, 1932, to Mr. tom Henry Duncan and Mrs. Cora Duncan in Ideal, Georgia.

Growing up in Ideal, he received his formative education. At the early age of seventeen, he enlisted in the United States Army. He began his new life. While stationed in Fort Sam Houston, Texas, he met and married the love of his life, Valgrace Luddington. The vows were made for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness or health, til death do we part. By the Grace of God these vows were kept.

Sergeant Duncan was a good soldier, devoted, loyal, and brave. He loved being in the military, traveling around the world seeing the world through the eyes of a soldier. He was willing to give his life for his country. Sergeant Duncan was a Viet Nam veteran. Following his Viet Nam tour, by the direction of the President, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for exceptionally meritorious service. After twenty-two years of service, Sergeant Duncan was honorably discharged. He began his new normal.

He attended St. Phillips College prior to opening his own janitorial and landscaping business. He was always willing and gladly helped others in all areas of home maintenance. He was loved by many.

He enjoyed life, especially fishing with family and friends. In the last few years of his life, he was diagnosed with dementia, a crippling disease of the mind. His earthly life came to an end on January 15, 2023.

Yes, you fought a good fight, the battles are over, the conflicts are finished, and Jesus is Lord. Rest in Peace.

In his passing Sergeant Duncan leaves wonderful memories to his devoted wife Valgrace Duncan; daughter: Sylvia Diane Middlebrooks; sons: Michael Duncan, Charles Duncan (Daisy); grandchildren: Marvin Middlebrooks, Maurice Lewis, Desmond Duncan, Jasmine Sutton; eleven great-grandchildren and a host of the relatives and friends.
