GREGORY CORNELL WALKER

Gregory “Greg” Cornell Walker was born on February 21st, 1952, to James Williams and Loraine T. Walker, in Meridian MS. He proudly served God as well as his country for over 20 years in the U.S. Air Force retiring as a Technical Sergeant and an Aircraft Maintenance Craftsman. He worked and served as a crew chief for over 200 different aircrafts at various locations, which included, Castle AFB, CA; Robins AFB, GA; Ramstein Air Base, Germany; and Andrews AFB, MD. While at Andrews, he was a member of the prestigious Presidential Airlift Group, known as “Presidential”. His most notable achievement was serving as a Gulfstream Crew Chief for the Presidential Gulfstream C-20 Aircraft. Former First ladies, Nancy Reagan and Barbara Bush, consistently honored and recognized him for his meticulous service and dedication to them and his aircraft. His co-workers and leadership referred to him as the epitome of his C-20 Team, also known as the “Rock and Roll Express.”

Greg loved to sing and entertain the masses. He competed with the prestigious Air Force Tops In Blue entertainment showcase earning a spot in the Worldwide Talent Competition on two occasions. He also used his talent and production expertise to create the Music America Entertainment Showcase at Castle AFB, CA. Hundreds of men, women and children witnessed this superb array of talent and Greg was honored by the city of Atwater for his efforts.  In addition to his love for music, Greg loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ “Yeshua” even more.  He was a shining example to all who knew him of what ‘Kingdom Building’ entails.

Upon retirement from the military, Greg served in numerous security-related capacities, to include Chief of Security for Tesoro Petroleum and as a Security Officer at San Antonio Express News.  Greg also pursued higher education obtaining an Associate’s Degree from St. Phillips College. He later returned to St. Phillips as an Aerospace Instructor and Trainer.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Williams; mother, Lorene T. Walker; brother, Stan Williams; and adoptive mother, Elizabeth Williams.

He leaves to cherish his daughter, Tausha A. Walker (Walker Texas Ranger #2); her mother CMSgt(ret) Tonia M. Oldham; former mother-in-law, Altamese Watkins; brothers, CMSgt(ret) Daryl D. Walker, Gary V. Walker, Jeffrey K. Jones, Frank Williams, and Glenn Williams; sisters, Cheryl A. Sims, Joyce Poole, Michelle Manning, and Janice Saulsberry; Uncle, SMSgt(ret) Heck Thomas Jr., Aunt, Barbara Thomas, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
