GOLDBERG GREEN HAMILTON

December 20, 1949 ~ January 21, 2021

Goldberg Green Hamilton, age 71 of San Antonio, TX was born on December 20, 1949 in Palestine, TX to Robert Abraham and Charlotte Mae Hamilton. God saw fit to call him home on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Downtown Baptist Hospital San Antonio, TX. 

Goldberg graduated in 1968 from Palestine High School in Palestine, TX. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Paul Quinn College in Waco, TX in May 1972. Goldberg became an Elder at Flipper Temple African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in Atlanta, GA in October 1972. In 1974, graduated with a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Interdenominational Theological Center and Turner Theological Seminary in Atlanta, GA. 

Goldberg served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force from 1983-1989, trained at Maxwell Air Force Base as a Chaplain. He later continued to help and serve others as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). He worked as a Counselor helping those with Addiction (Substance Use Disorder). 

Some of Goldberg’s hobbies were singing and supporting his favorite sports teams, The Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs. He enjoyed the simple things in life and enjoyed the many gatherings with his children. As a true San Antonian, he looked forward to attending the annual Fiesta Parade with his family. This caring father, loving grandfather and special friend will be missed by all. 

Goldberg is preceded in death by his parents, Robert A. Hamilton, and Charlotte Mae Green Hamilton; former spouse, Charlene Hamilton Jones; Brothers, Leonard Hamilton, Reginald Hamilton. 

He is survived by his Daughter, Joy Hamilton; sons Robert Hamilton II and Michael (Priscilla) Edwards; Grandchildren, Charlese, Kenzie, Darius and Isaiah, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. 

The work of God’s chosen vessel is completed on earth and now he is rejoicing with his Heavenly Father.
