GLORIASTEEN VALLEY COOK

March 9, 1953 ~ February 1, 2023

Gloriasteen Valley Cook was born on March 9, 1953, to the late David, Sr. and Alma Valley in Helena, Arkansas. She was the second oldest of seven siblings. After spending her early life in Helena, she moved to Little Rock, Arkansas in the late 1970s. In the early1990s, Gloria moved to San Antonio, Texas. She professed a love for Christ later in life and joined Eisenhauer Baptist Church (currently Holy Hill Church).

Gloria left high school early in her youth, but she never gave up on her pursuit of attaining her diploma, which she successful completed while living in San Antonio. She received her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license after attending nursing school in Little Rock. Gloria enjoyed a 27-year career as a CNA healthcare professional, working primarily at special care facilities for the elderly.

Gloria enjoyed cooking, word search books, bird feeding, and “binge-watching” TV shows and movies.

On June 25, 1998, Gloria united in holy matrimony with her soulmate, the late Noble Cook, Sr. in San Antonio.  Although she did not have children of her own, she cherished and enjoyed her nieces and nephews. And when it came to demonstrating her love of family, Gloria oftentimes sacrificed her needs to help family members.

On February 1, 2023, Gloria departed this life peacefully at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC). She leaves to cherish her memories: three sisters, Alma M. Valley and Ora L. Speed of Little Rock, Arkansas, Marian Valley O’Neal (Alvin) of San Antonio; three brothers, David Valley, Jr. (Alma) and Elfonza Valley (Mertis) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Anthony Valley of Helena, Arkansas; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
