FRANCINE DAVIS

On May 10, 1950, God blessed Jawarnia Willis (mother) and Joe Ezekiel Smith (father) with a beautiful baby girl.  Francine was the middle child of five sisters:  Annette Bell, NuJean Hawkins and Esther Moore and Glyna Bell who gained her wings on August 19, 2023.  Francine and her siblings’ mother passed away when they were very young.  As a result, she and her sisters were raised by their grandmother, Bessie Willis, affectionately known as Mama Bessie with the help of their aunt, Voncile Holt and cousin, Glenetta Bierria.

Francine graduated from Phillis Wheatley High School, Class of 1969.  She was a cheerleader and studied cosmetology which was taught by her aunt, Voncile Holt.  She attended St. Philips College.  While living in California from 1970 – 1975, she was trained as a soldering technician.  In 1975, Francine moved back to San Antonio.  She was employed with Electro Lab for 18 years as a soldering technician.  Francine worked very closely with the electrical engineers using blueprint schematics to build protocols for printed circuit power boards that were designed for Valero Gas and Oil, Inc., as well as 3M panels dispensers used in a variety of fountain drinks, cleaning supplies and to dispense medications within hospitals.  In 2000, she started working at Kinetic Concept Incorporated, also known as KCI, building printed circuit boards to power hospital beds designed to rotate patients in the hospital beds for the burn unit located within SAMC and other critical care facilities.  While employed with KCI, she met her beloved husband, Frankie Bee Davis Jr, who gained his wings on September 29, 2014.  They had been married for 12 years.

Francine was a proud member of San Antonio Friendship Group social club.  She enjoyed traveling with the members of the social club, volunteering at the Taste of New Orleans for the Zulus, and above all, traveling the world with her children and grandchildren.  She was a founding member of Ernest T Dixon United Methodist Church serving on the usher board, as a communion steward, and with the food pantry mission ministry.  She also was a founding member of Revelation Christian Church prior to returning to Ernest T Dixon UMC.  But more importantly, Francine was a woman of God.  She may have looked like other women, but she was unique, because she looked up to God in all that she did.  She never relied on trends or her intelligence to change the world, she just followed God’s plan.  She was bold in her speech yet humbled as a child of God.  She was the light in a dark room yet remained very private.  She fought a good fight but knew the victory belonged to the Lord.    

Francine leaves behind three amazing children:  Tosha Jean Williams, John Wesley Robinson III, and Marvine Lamar Robinson; four exceptional grandchildren, Tiffany Williams, Tyrek Johnson-Williams, Jillian Walton and Elijah Robinson; and one great grandchild, TyShawn Williams and host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.  She was loved tremendously by her family and friends, and she loved them all.
