Ethel Mae Turner Ford, age 73, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025,

in San Antonio, Texas. Born on December 4, 1951, in Oneida, Arkansas, to Rosemary Turner and Frank Turner 

Ethel Mae lived a life marked by devotion to her family, faith, and community.

 

A woman of deep faith, Ethel Mae was a lifelong Baptist. She began her spiritual journey at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Scott, Arkansas. Over the years she also worshipped at Gospel Temple Baptist Church and Mt. Harmony Baptist Church before moving to San Antonio. There, she became an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Her love for church life was evident through her joyful participation in the choir and her dedication to working with youth ministries.

 

Ethel Mae began her education at Lakeview Public School and graduated from the renowned Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. With a passion for beauty and service, she earned her cosmetology license and became a self-employed beautician. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to open her own cleaning service while still residing in Little Rock.

In 1997, Ethel Mae relocated to San Antonio, Texas, where she spent her retirement years surrounded by family. Her home was often filled with warmth and laughter as she continued to support those around her with unwavering love and generosity. Ethel also found joy in tending to her plants and caring for animals—simple pleasures that reflected her gentle nature and appreciation for life’s quiet blessings.

 

Ethel is lovingly remembered by her children Danita Turner; Ronald Turner (Krystal); Reginald Turner (Chiedza); Jacob Armstrong III (Janette); Jason Armstrong; Danielle Colclough (Joe); Portia Heileman (Karlon); 20 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; her puppy Star and various nieces, nephews and cousins; Aunt Christine Thomas; Uncle James Lee Wright ; Brother Thedra Turner (AKA Blue); Sisters Sharon Turner (The General); Theresa Grant; Dorthy Warren (AKA Dot); Bonus sister Wanda McCoy ( AKA Poochie)

 

She was preceded in death by her mother Rosemary Hill Warren; father Frank Turner; Bonus Father James Warren (AKA Jimmy); brother Frank Turner Jr. (AKA Manne); sister Rose Bowman; aunts Josephine Abraham (AKA Baby Jo) and Cassie Lee Daniels.

 

Ethel’s legacy lives on through those who knew and loved her. May her memory bring comfort and peace to all whose lives she touched.
