Ethel L. Johnson lived a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness. Known for her humor, warmth, and unshakable strength, she brought joy to everyone who knew her.
A devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, Ethel will be remembered for her caring heart, her unforgettable sense of humor, and the way she made everyone feel special. Her family will forever cherish the memories, the laughter, and the love she so freely gave.
A proud retiree of Killeen Independent School District, Ethel also achieved an incredible milestone as the oldest female graduate of Texas A&M-Central Texas, earning her degree at the age of 75, a true testament to her determination and lifelong love of learning.
She is survived by her loving husband Claude of 57 years, children Theresa (Donell), Tristal (Simon), and Jean-Claude (Jenna), her cherished grandchildren, brother Melvin (Nadine), and a host of extended family and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Ethel’s legacy of compassion, humor, and perseverance will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

God put an angel on earth when he blessed Ethel (Poochie) Smith-Johnson with the brilliance, wisdom, and perseverance to inspire others, raise three beautiful children, and leave a legacy of love and service. Poochie was an extended member of our family, bringing love, laughter, and a spirit of togetherness that will always remain in our hearts. We will truly miss her as a cherished member of our family, whose spirit will live on in all of us.

My heartfelt condolences..Poochie, Bunky..were in Germany at the same time..she was funny, we laughed and shared stories..I hadn’t seen her in years but saw photos that Claude posted of family..Their Love Story stood the test of time..She was a sweet kind spirit lady
