Erma Lee Alexander Jackson lived her life with faith, hope and charity. She shined as a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, grandmother, great-grand mother, great-great-grandmother and a caring aunt. She demonstrated happiness, peacefulness, faithfulness, and love.
Erma Lee Alexander Jackson was born on July 26, 1918 in the town of Vox Populi, Colorado County, Texas to the late Josephine White Alexander and Reverend Freeman Alexander. She was the third born of three daughters: Dorothy Marian Alexander Jones and Wilma Alexander Daniel, both deceased.

Upon graduating, Erma and Waymon were united in holy matrimony on December 1, 1937. To this union, five wonderful children were born: Jerald Douglas (deceased), Gloria Joyce, Yvonne Pearl, Patricia Elaine, and Wilma Arnette. She received her B.A. degree in Special Education. She was in the education system for over eighteen years. She was a very devoted teacher to her students.
Erma like to fight for a good cause, especially for her neighborhood, where she was an active member. She was the next to the last President of the neighborhood club. She, along with other members of the club, after having successfully fought to save the Historic Fire Station on East Commerce and Hackberry Street, the neighborhood club determined that they should be recognized by the city. In 1998, they got their recognition and till this day it bears the name, Nevada Street Neighborhood Association.
Erma was a faithful church member. She was active in the choir, Sunday school, and was a Special Usher, until she became ill. She loved fishing with her husband and sitting in a chair reading her Bible and other spiritual materials. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Ms. Jackson was a wonderful caring person in the Denver Heights. We belonged to the same church and she always supported positive change and me.
