ELLA MARIE DIXON

September 12, 1930 ~ January 4, 2025

Ella Marie Wagner Dixon was born on September 12, 1930 to Wilton and Mary Payton Wagner in Patoutville, LA.

A native of Weeks Island, LA and resident of Jeanerette, LA. Ella departed this life on January 4, 2025 at her residence following a brief illness.

Ella was raised by her oldest sister, Felicie, from the age of 12 all the way up to attending the first year of college at Grambling University. Ella was crowned the first Queen Brown Sugar of the1951 Queen Brown Sugar Festival held in Jeanerette, LA.

Ella was united in holy matrimony to Herman Dixon on April 30, 1953 and celebrated 65 years of marriage until his death on May 4, 2018.

To their union, 7 wonderful children were born: Susan Dixon McClenic (Harper) of Oak Park, MI, Gregory Dixon (Barbara) of Palmdale, CA, Anthony Dixon of Columbus, MS, Nina Dixon Houston (Anthony) of San Antonio, TX, Larry Dixon of San Antonio, TX, Michael Dixon (Dorota) of Marrakesh, Morocco and Cheryl Dixon of San Antonio, TX.

Ella accepted Jesus Christ at a young age attended Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for over 25 years.

Ella was devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She leaves behind a legacy of unwavering love and kindness and will be missed dearly.

Ella loved and adored her (15) grandchildren; Patrick Dixon (Nikolina), Brittani Coleman, Kevin McClenic, Taurean Dixon, Jazmyne Dixon, Bryonna Bradberry, Tiana Houston Williams (Quinton), Tiffany Houston, Brandon Dixon, Angelo McClenic (Felicia), Mia Smith (Terrell), Warren McGee (Michelle), Stan Zarzycki , Bruno Zarzycki , Maria Zarzycka  and (16) great-grandchildren: Emma Dixon, Aniyah Coleman, Leon Dixon, Kaysen Williams, Nevaeh Williams, Mya McClenic, Ajay McClenic, Larren McGee Loveless (Malcolm), Andre Wright, Xaida Wright, Branden Smith, Brianna Smith, and (2) great-great grandchildren: Malcolm Loveless, Nova Loveless.

Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Dixon, her daughter, Susan M. Dixon McClenic, her son, Larry P. Dixon, her parents, Wilton and Mary Payton Wagner, four sisters, Felicie Mitchell, Mary Wagner, Louise Clay, Martha Henderson, one infant brother and granddaughter, Jazmyne Dixon.

Ella leaves to cherish her memories: aunt, Audrey Roy, sister-in-laws, Lillian Ambrose, Ethel Dixon, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
